It may be tough to even bring Nabby back if he is not the clear #1 and the team is not going to feel comfortable in using him in the playoffs. May be better to bring in another vet goalie that can step in if Poulin falters.

Just carrying over from the last thread..
I definitely agree that may be the fact. That said, I don't think they'd tell him up front that they have no plans to use him in a playoff scenario because it wouldn't be entirely true. Just because the team surprised a lot of folks this year with their jump from punchline to legit playoff team doesn't mean the overall plan will change. I still say this team will meet it's full arrival in 2015. For that reason, I expect more baby steps in the way of personnel. So the possibility of Nabby being back for a playoff game would be there, but I think Poulin needs to get his chance to perform and if he becomes the better of the two, the team should ride him into the playoffs. If he fails miserably, it may be time to consider either Nilsson or Nabby for the stretch.
So overall, I see Nabby's role gradually diminishing, but not drastically. From a pitch perspective, it should be simplified to the point of: "We want you back, we want you to be our guy, but we want to significantly reduce your workload"
If he's not interested, then we should move on quickly and consider if there's another option out there that can split time with Poulin. It's for that reason that I wouldn't make a big splash at that position, it's simply not necessary at this point.

Yep, not expecting much this offseason. All I'm hoping for is a new addition on JT's wing whether it comes from outside or within(probably) is the question? As long as Boyes isn't resigned I'm good the rest is gravy

Islanders absolutely stalled his development by rushing him into the NHL, that's what happens when you have a mismanaged franchise. Definitely a skilled young guy, I actually wanted the Canucks to draft him. Here's to a breakout season next year, hopefully in a Nucks sweater?

Who is the 'he' you're referring to? Nino?
I still say it wasn't a matter of rushing him in but rather the role he was asked to fill that was a mistake. He was slated in camp to play on JT's wing that year until his camp injury. I think if he had done that, his first season would have been much more positive. Taking an offensive prospect and throwing him into a defensive role with two guys that are no longer NHL caliber players made every bit of his inexperience appear magnified. It's like comparing starting a rookie goalie with Florida compared to the LA Kings.

True, however I actually thought he was chiming in on the conversation Capt and I were having where it was mentioned about JT's need for a winger. I just immediately figured the gear was shifted to Nino.

** Edit..for the record, I didn't even read the title of the blog at that point. Trying to keep the mind pure

The Nabby convo was getting stale, it's something I think we all agree on as far as goaltending? We need some conflict in here. Where is LetsGoIsles? Maybe we can go back to fighting again and liven this place up

we used to just talk about what we would be doing with our top 5 pick... TOO many options at the 15 spot. Right now we are projected to grab Domi's kid... I just don't think we need any more offensive prospects right now. We need help in goal and on D. Zachary Fucale could be a very solid option for the Isles, he is the best goalie in the draft, he's not a reach where we are drafting, but he could be gone by the time we pick.
